So you’re pressed for time on your Patagonia Itinerary and wondering which side of Patagonia is better, Chile or Argentina? Can you just visit Argentina and be satisfied??
The answer is, it depends!
The Argentina side has so much to offer in Patagonia. This is where you will find the Patagonia clothing brand signature logo inspiration. (I won’t tell you how many basic photos I took of my hat here!) The Argentina region is also much larger than Chile’s and can require lots of driving or flying. But if you’re pressed for time and trying to see a little bit of both, it’s possible with a little bit of planning!
Here are our Top 3 Must Dos on the Argentina side:
- Visit Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciers National Park. This National Park is easy to get to and the board walks make it easily accessible for all to enjoy (think Yellowstone boardwalks). Depending on when you visit it can get crowded so this is definitely a place we recommend visiting during a week day if you can! You can get so close to this massive glacier.
- Cerro Fitz Roy– This is where you will find the inspiration for the Patagonia clothing logo. The hike is not as challenging as Torres Del Paine Base Las Torres, so you won’t be DYING when you reach the cerro. Make sure to bring a jacket as it can get chilly.
- Lago Argentino– if you’re starting Argentina Patagonia from El Calafate, Lago Argentino will be hard to miss. This lake is the 3rd largest in all of South America and gets its blue color from the glacial meltwater.
